In 2005 and I first started storing my photos online because my wife and I moved to London, England, and we wanted our family to be able to keep track of our lives. Photos are an easy way to do that. The photo gallery therefore starts off with us being married at city hall. This actually ends up making our photo gallery a record of my marriage to my wife, and the beginning of being part of my own family. Pretty cool.
It wasn't too long in London before we were practicing taking care of a baby. See our photo series on walking Pooh around London. This photo is actually taken when we were having our first ultra-sound recorded of our son.
The birth of our son is easily our favourite moment in London, although I think for my wife that was more true somewhat after the fact. Watching my son come into the world was truly amazing.
Very quickly he began to grow up. It felt like a long timewhen it was happening, but now all of his early stages seem like they occurred in a blink of an eye. I remember his first breathe, his first tooth, and a lot of other firsts like it was yesterday though, I'm glad I was there for it.
We spent two years in London and there were a lot of memorable moments. I miss my friends from there still but don't want to continue life as a nomad. Settling down for a while back home is be a good idea.
Life in London was good, but soon it became time to move on because of the crushing expense. London really is one of the most expensive places on the planet to live, especially when you are in a single income family.
We decided to move on to Thailand instead of heading straight home to Canada. This was because we felt we would enjoy living in an exotic and exciting place. We also wanted to save some money, and we knew the cost of living in Bangkok would be a lot less.
Having finished nearly a year and a half here, I think we were right on both counts. We have certainly had some interesting experiences that we would have had no where else.
Thanasi has grown up a lot in our time here, and now has friends of his own. This guy sitting with Thanasi on the right is one of his best friends here. When Thanasi plays with his Lego people, Joshua is one of the names he uses.
Actually I think Thailand has been really great for Thanasi's development because of the exposure to different languages and cultures. We have friends here from many different nationalities, including Germany, England, Japan, a few others, and of course Thailand. Soon we will be heading back to Canada though and hopefully staying still for a while.
I am very glad we have built up this resource and hope that we continue it for the rest of our lives. It has been a really neat journey so far, let's see where the next 40 years takes us!
