Teething son

My son has started the serious acts of teething now, although we feel like he’s been going through the stages for ages. He’s learned how to full on scream at the top of his lungs, which is not a skill we were hoping he would figure out so young. His crying before would always wear us thin fairly quickly, but it was mostly because of our concern for him. Now when he’s in the middle of a temper tantrum and doesn’t appear to want anything his crying is grating and annoying. I love my son, but boy I wish he would start speaking and giving us a bit more to work on so we can make him more comfortable. I’m really looking forward to the reasoning stage…

That being said, he’s also really cute and smiles at us all the time. His favourite activity is to be nestled comfortably in Momma’s arms and staring at Daddy making goofy faces.

He has recently started being able to sit up unaided (although he still needs help getting into that position) and can lie swimming on the floor for 15-20 minutes in a stretch (he apparently thinks that the lessons he’s learning in the pool apply to crawling…) making a vain effort to move. So far all he can manage is to either roll over (either direction) or slowly spin in place. One day soon he’s going to realize how he can get some locomotion going, and when that day comes he’s going to be really difficult.

Oh well, I’m going to use this break from him as he’s sleeping to get some work done.
