New side of my son

So my son and I had our first conversation today. He said ‘ggggah’ and I responded ‘gggah’, and so on for a good 10 minutes or so. It was amazing. He was very excited, and was smiling most of the time. He has a funny of way of scrunching his body up before he makes his one syllable which is very endearing.

He was cranky for most of this evening, which was frustrating for Vasilia and I, and I think we are going to have one of our first sleepless nights (unless he amazingly falls asleep immediately after this latest feeding). On the other hand, my impression of babies is that usually cry at the drop of a hat, and our son seems to only have 3 reasons why he cries: he needs changing, he needs food, or he needs sleep. We give him too much attention for him to be crying because he’s lonely.

Life is good! I just got paid (or will be paid) for some work I did today, which is terrific. Someone offered me $50 to code some modifications to a web module they liked, and I managed to get it working within a morning. Not especially high pay per hour, but given I have no training, no qualifications, and hardly any experience coding, it’s still nice to make some money doing it.

I’m REALLY looking forward to Christmas, despite the problems with the long travel involved. I’m glad my family in BC is going to get to see both my wife and I, and of course, our new son! What a thrill! We are spending quite a bit of time in BC, so we should be able to get a lot done.
