Bathed my son for the first time!

So Vasilia and I had some quick fun yesterday when we gave Thanasi a full bath for the first time. We had gone out earlier in the day to buy a larger bath for him as the partial bath we had already wasn’t working so well.Oct_4_2006_010_1.jpg
He settled into the water very easily, and really seemed to be enjoying himself. He cooed a little bit the whole time we washed him, which probably didn’t take as much time as he would have liked. Following the advice of our midwife, we made the water as warm as we would have liked, but we didn’t keep him in the water for too long.

This experience of taking care of someone’s every needs has been very rewarding for me. I knew I wanted to become a father, but I have certainly been enjoying the experience. Vasilia and I are extremely lucky as well, as we have a very behaved peaceful little boy. It may be that this changes in the future, but hopefully not.

Oct_4_2006_012_1.jpgWe have also started settling into a bit of a routine during the past couple of weeks, as I have been off on paternity leave. I originally scheduled my paternity leave for immediately after my son was born, and we decided to change it so that I could be at home to help take care of Thanasi and Vasilia when Vasilia’s mom, Patricia, went back home. Anyway, I really think this way has worked out much better.

Oct_4_2006_015_1.jpgI have to go back to work this coming Monday though, and I’m not really looking forward to it. 2 weeks is just not enough time to really get to know your son. He’s just starting to develop a real interaction with the outside world, and I’m sure I’m going to miss some of his more pivotal moments, especially given how busy I’m going to be this year.

That reminds me! Back to work…
